Choose your lodge

Our two magnificent Pioneer Lodges have wooden room-dividing walls and plank floors. Each has a large, beautifully furnished living area with a sofa, armchairs and woodburner and plenty of room for up to six people.

Deal the cards, chat about the day or stoke up the burner for a snug evening. The living space is warm at night and on glorious sunny days, you can throw open the front awning to make it part of the deck.

The lodges are just tucked into the edge of the forest. It’s luxury living a stone’s throw from nature.

Luxurious wood-fired hot tubs

What better way to escape the stresses of everyday life than lying back and staring at the stars, surrounded by beautiful Dorset countryside, all from the luxurious seat of your hot tub!

The smell is utterly divine and it feels like a spa with a therapeutic massage from the fantastically quiet, yet powerful, water jets. Let the colour-changing LEDs gently set the ambiance, as you let all of your stresses fade away.

Each of our glamping cabins is equipped with its own private eco-tub and has towel robes for you when getting in and out of the water. We empty the tubs regularly, enabling them to stay chlorine and bromine free, as an added bonus.

Indoors or al-fresco

The kitchen and dining area is roomy, well stocked and finished to a very high standard. There’s a fridge, plenty of storage, all the cutlery and crockery you’d expect, a four burner gas hob and a combination microwave oven.

We provide all the washing up essentials, pots and pans you will need. We also like to welcome our guests with a basket of produce on arrival: locally made bread, milk and some mouthwatering local Purbeck Chocolate.

Curl up in sumptuous style

Our bedrooms have top-quality mattresses, cotton sheets and woollen blankets galore. There’s a king-size four-poster in bedroom one, twin single beds in the second bedroom and a really cool king-sized cabin bed in the last bedroom.

Each bed has its own electric blanket to keep you snug all night long; so hunker down, enjoy the peace and quiet, and prepare for one blissful night’s sleep…

Contemporary comforts

If you haven’t realised by this point, this is when you’ll really discover you’re not on the average canvas holiday.

Your spacious bathroom is warm and inviting, with hot water on demand, double-sized rain shower, basin, flushing loo and soft towels; a truly comfortable place to freshen up.

Loose Reins country from the deck…

We reckon the wooden deck is the best bit of your lodge. There’s just no better place to get that Loose Reins relaxed feeling. Sinking into the large sofa or one of the armchairs with a hot chocolate, listening to the birdsong, watching the sun come up; it’s what Loose Reins is all about.

Sheltered from the weather and not overlooked, it’s where you can make memories and reconnect. Laugh around the fire, enjoy a glass of wine, talk about your day or watch for a shooting star. The deck is one peaceful place.

Never too young for Loose Reins

Your little ones will be safe and sound in any of the lodges. There’s space for a travel cot and underneath the cabin bed there’s a play area – your very own secret den. There are pens, paper and a desk where the next day’s adventure can be masterminded, plus beanbags and toys. The best news of all? No grown-ups allowed!

There’s so much to explore, from the woods on your doorstep to the local cycle trails and hill walks. Hold a tree climbing competition, start a scavenger hunt, build a forest den or look out for badgers in the evening light. Capture a hillfort, or make friends with Butch and Sundance, our pygmy goats. Try lassoing the model bull, collect your free-range eggs from the chickens. See what you can find on a nature trail.

Games for everyone

We have WiFi at Loose Reins but the signal can be patchy in the Lodges. There aren’t many downsides to having so much green space, but the distance from the office is a bit of a stretch for the wireless connection. The good news is that mobile data reception is usually pretty good. If you like to watch films in the evening, we recommend downloading a few before you come.

We keep a box of board games in each lodge, including Monopoly, Snakes and Ladders, Ludo, Scrabble and a pack of cards. Snapchat may be great, but you can’t beat the feeling of Dad landing on Mayfair when you’ve just put up that hotel…
