Meet The Residents
Coming soon, an introduction to all of the friendly animals that call Loose Reins their home...
Organised Children's Activities are on Hold during 2020 due to Coronavirus
We have signed up to a cleanliness charter to help you feel confident we are doing all that we reasonably can to keep everyone safe and reduce any risk of infection. We want to take care of our guests, our team and our community whose support we are very grateful for. Therefore whilst social distancing remains in place we are unable to offer activities involving physical interaction with the Loose Reins team or our animals.
But there is still plenty of fun to be had
The good news is that the Loose Reins magic is always here and starts to weave its spell the moment you drive through the gates. Take a deep breath, feel the calm descend as stresses seem to melt away. The Loose Reins animals will all be here to welcome and entertain you... our two Pygmy goats are as comical as ever with their funny antics, see our sweet ponies and rare breed sheep nibbling peacefully on the grass, feel your spirits lift at the lambs racing around the edge of their field in the evenings or climbing on top of their long suffering mums for a better view. We have a Forestry Commission licence and you are free to roam the huge forests next to Loose Reins - build a den, make a bow and arrow, climb a tree. Enjoy the fun of outdoor cooking on your own fire pit and toast marsh mallows around the camp fire. Bring a ball or outdoor games - you are welcome to race around our huge sand arena or an empty paddock. Play board games, snuggle up with a book, spend some time drawing. And if you can bear to leave Loose Reins, North Dorset is one of the most beautiful parts of the UK with wonderful walking, riding and cycling.
The Buckaroo Club - currently not running due to the requirement for social distancing
We all need some outdoor time, so why not give your children a loose rein too…
They can help look after the sheep and collect eggs from our happy hens. Take a tractor and trailer ride to feed the ponies or help with general barnyard chores. Go foraging in the hedgerows and learn what to pick as treats for the goats. Find the den on the edge of the forest, discover the wildlife, play hide and seek. The opportunities for fun activities and making new friends are endless…
